Hugh Ogletree

 

Hugh Ogletree is not the first person I ever met that likes to ride a single speed bike, but he is the first person who takes riding a single speed to a high level. I first rode with Hugh, who was riding his custom-built single speed on BRAG 2017. My next meeting was BRAG 2018 from Rome to Hartwell. A route that had some noticeable elevation.  Hugh’s cool ride is a carbon S-Works frame, Chris King road hubs, Origin 8 converter kit and modified Dura-ace crank. 

This set up allows Hugh to dial in a specific gear ratio by quickly changing the rear cog to desired teeth count. On our trip across the hills of North Georgia, Hugh had his gear set up as 53/19 and he rode right along with those with multiple gears. Hugh shared with me last year that he has been riding the BRAG annually for over twenty years. You can follow Hugh on Strava or ride the BRAG this June and you are sure to meet him.
